Before Card Capture Sakura, Precure, and Sailor Moon there was Mahotsukai Sally, or better known here in the West Sally, the Witch. Thought, to be consider the very first magical girl, Mahotsukai Sally pave the way for young girls to see themselves as heroines in a male dominated comic market in the 1960's, and while Sally was way before my time I decided to make this little fanart dedicated to her. Funny, I am aware of the classic anime heroes like Astro Boy, Goku, and Devilman, but I never heard of Sally the Witch, until I was randomly recommend her show on YouTube. Granted the series is pretty dated by todays standard, but you can see where a lot of Magical girls like Sailor Moon got their inspiration from. So if you are ever interested in retro anime try watching Mahotskai Sally. You won't be disappointed.
